If you find yourself struggling to focus on your studio practice, working with a mentor amongst like-minded peers can help you define your goals, find inspiration and keep accountability to your work.
Not only will you receive advice on your career, goal setting and concept development, you will can also get feedback on your works in progress.
Similar to a group critique in a college art class, you can get constructive feedback from your peers and mentor which will help you clarify your vision and propel your art career forward.
The very first meeting of the month, we will go over our Monthly/Weekly Goal Setting Roadmap. These will be small, impactful and attainable goals for each week of the month.
Goals can be anything related to your studio art practice that will keep you focused and moving forward towards your big goals. It can be to sketch daily, post on social media, finish a painting, start a new painting, etc. These goals will be based on our "Big Picture" goal setting worksheet when you start your first session.
How will the class help me with my goals?
Each week, you will track and rate your goals and we will review them at the end of the month. Each week at the beginning of your session, we will do a brief check-in on these goals to help you track your progress.
Absolutely not! This group is for artists from all different skill levels, experiences and backgrounds. One of the incredible benefits of joining is that each person brings a unique perspective and skillset to the group which benefits all members. So whether you plan to launch your art career or it's simply your passion project and hobby, this group can benefit your practice.
Our session will open up with a 5-10 minute topic of discussion. Occasionally I will share something from my studio projects, some art-related information or presentation or we will host an open Q&A.
After our opening topic, I will begin with each member individually. We will begin by reviewing your weekly goals and each member will receive 10 minutes of feedback directly from me on the topic, goal or project of their choice. This might include digitally painting over a drawing or painting, discussing composition, career strategy, goal setting etc. I will then open the room to group feedback for approximately 5 minutes before we move on to the next member.
At the end of the session we will hold a last open Q&A before we end our meeting. The entire meeting duration will be approximately 2.5 hours 4 times a week. This will vary depending on the number of active participants in a given week. The meeting will begin every Saturday at 11am central standard time (Chicago).
The weekend atelier is $75 per month and limited to 10 spots to keep our group small and personalized. I believe this will help foster growth and relationships as a group the best.
You can cancel your membership anytime, however, you will lose your spot and will be placed on a waiting list if you decide to rejoin again in the future.
The monthly membership guarantees your spot for all 4 meetings each month. If you are unable to attend a meeting, you can submit your questions for the following meeting. Refunds, credits and make-up sessions are not offered for absences, similar to a college course.
If I have to cancel a class due to illness or a family emergency, I will work in good faith with the group to hold a make-up session on a date that agrees with the group majority.
The sessions are held the first 4 Saturdays of the month, however, in the case of major holidays they may be scheduled around those dates.
